About Tidewell

A small practice with room to breathe.

Tidewell began with a simple idea: counseling should feel less like an appointment and more like arriving somewhere calm. Our rooms are bright, our pace is gentle and our door is open to people from all walks of life.

Bright rooms, unhurried hours.

Our home on Larch Street has two counseling rooms, a quiet waiting nook with tea and a small garden you can step into before or after a session. If you'd rather talk from your own sofa, online sessions work just as well.

We see adults, couples and young people aged 14 and up. Some arrive in a hard season; others simply want to understand themselves better. Either is a good reason to come.

What we believe

Four things we try to get right, every time.

Warmth before technique

Skills matter, but feeling safe and heard comes first. We take time to get to know you.

Your pace, always

There's no right speed. You choose what we talk about, and when.

Practical and grounded

We draw on well-researched approaches and help you find small, doable changes.

Private and respectful

What you share stays between us, within the limits we explain clearly at the start.

The team

Meet the people.

Maren Ellery, LMFT

Founder · Marriage & family therapist

Steady, warm and practical. Maren helps people slow down enough to hear what they actually need.

Maren spent twelve years in community clinics before opening Tidewell, a practice she wanted to feel more like a living room than a waiting room. She works with couples and individuals navigating change: new parenthood, separation, career shifts, or the quieter ache of feeling stuck. Her style is gentle and direct, drawing on emotionally focused and acceptance-based approaches.

Theo Okafor, LCSW

Clinical social worker

Calm, curious and unhurried. Theo makes room for the things that are hard to say out loud.

Theo works with adults carrying a lot: grief, burnout, family pressure, or a sense that they should be coping better than they are. Many of his clients have never tried counseling before, and he takes care to make the first few sessions feel low-pressure and clear. He draws on CBT-informed and narrative approaches, always shaped around the person in front of him.

Junie Park, LPC

Professional counselor · Teens & young adults

Easy to talk to and quietly encouraging. Junie meets young people exactly where they are.

Junie works with people aged 14 to 30 around anxiety, identity, friendships, family and the pressure to have it all figured out. She's LGBTQ+ affirming and works closely with parents when that helps, while protecting the young person's space to speak freely. Sessions can include walking, drawing or simply sitting with a cup of tea.

Probably the first person you'll speak to. Ada will help you find the right fit, no forms to fill in first.
